This is the website for the working group of young people who are putting together plans to make a Youth Arts Festival for Wales a reality.
It also gives a chance for people outside the working group to see where we are up to and to make comments and suggestions.
During 2013, Arts Council of Wales commissioned Arad Research to gauge if there is demand for more opportunities to celebrate the artistic achievements of young people. The answer was loud and clear: YES!
Ceridwen Associates Ruth Garnault and Sarah Greenhalgh are working with a group of 13 young people to scope the practicalities. This group is representative of the diverse youth arts sector in Wales and drawn from different regions of the country: to find out more about us go to the Members page.
Arts Council of Wales have asked us to:
- Develop the thinking around the organisational and operational structure for the Youth Arts Festival.
- Refine the festival’s aims and scope (e.g. target age range, duration)
- Investigate potential models for the festival including practical implications and costs of each model
- Explore potential partnerships (e.g. with venues, universities, existing festivals, youth organisations) and locations for hosting the festival
At the end of August 2014, we will produce a report which pulls together the findings, with options summarising the different models. The report will include indicative costings and recommendations for next steps.
